Land Rover is going commitment to vehicles that consume less fuel and emissions to reach a new milestone in the Geneva Motor Show 2011 and the first presentation of the
Land Rover Range e. This development model is equipped with advanced plug-in hybrid diesel-electric powertrain Land Rover models available in future production, the next launch scheduled for its diesel-electric hybrid in 2013.
Land Rover Range e is based on the Range Rover Sport and uses the current 245PS 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel engine, working with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a 69kw electric motor. The use of a parallel hybrid system with a 14.2kW / h lithium ion can be recharged from an external power source 240 V, Land Rover Range_e can be used in electric power alone for more than 20 miles with zero emissions harmful exhaust gases.
At full load, normal household power supply can be reached in about four hours. Typically, the majority of European car drivers cover less than 25 miles a day and then the EV offered by this technology supports the majority of short urban journeys, where fuel economy and emissions are of primary importance. However, long-distance power transmission and diesel hybrid gets steadily improving CO2 emissions.

Interior
Land Rover Range e is also designed with the ability of 4WD and the standard Range Rover Sport, complete with a range of high and low transmission, front differential and limited slip rear differential and a mechanical center. Depending on the request of the driver, the intelligent vehicle decides the most effective method to provide the required power, except electric, diesel or both. The Range_e also features regenerative braking to capture energy normally lost as heat through the brakes.
